The Stolen Waitress Melody Blues

Two o’clock in the morning a blond waitress explained me
Why she was doing her job with so much energy
The Danish people are as happy as they can be
They have their own currency and a strong economy
They have their own currency and a strong economy

I spoke a social worker earlier that day
Thirty years ago he had left the USA
To find a nice society where it’s allowed to say
To say I am a communist, to say I am gay
To say I am a communist, to say I am gay

To get a lift back to the place where I had left my stuff
One question to a friendly guy was this time just enough
Beyond doubt it might have been a coincidental bluff
When he told me the police here never use handcuffs
When he told me the police here never use handcuffs

The waitress asked me if I came from Italy or Spain
I can imagine someone thinks I am meditarain
I smiled a bit and asked the blond how I can recognize a Dane
You can take your hat off sir, they aren’t expecting rain
You can take your hat off sir, they aren’t expecting rain

Our conversation was relaxed we talked about a man
Who sadly died last year in a bad car accident
I saw some tears in her eyes and wipe them with my hand
I don’t wanna be your lover, but I can be your friend
I don’t wanna be your lover, but I can be your friend
